Estimating Your Storage Needs

If you're only using High Impact eMail for stationery, day-to-day correspondence, and a few images here and there, the 250 KB we provide will last you a while. But if you don't have your own web space and you're using High Impact eMail for image-heavy communication, then you may want to upgrade. Here are some helpful hints in determining how much space you'll need.

Avoiding the Red X

When HTML is coded to have an image, but the image is no longer available (or is not referenced properly), this horrible Red X appears. It's unprofessional and says to the recipient that you're not maintaining your web space properly. And that's just eMBarrassing. Here are a few reasons you would want extra space to avoid the Red X.
  • eMail Newsletters - If you are planning on sending email newsletters with a lot of images, it's a good idea to get more space. You could delete images you used in the previous issue, but some people like to store their e-newsletters to come back to later, or for future reference. It's probably good to wait at least six months before deleting email newsletter images images.

Monthly Newsletter? Get 2MB.  Weekly Newsletter? Get 5MB or 10MB.

  • Catalog - If it's an email catalog you want, we would recommend a 5 MB or 10MB. Chances are you will add images. Even if you were to change the items in your catalog, it's inconvenient to take down the images, and then load them again. You'd have to search for them all over your hard drive. Just make it easier for yourself and get a 5MB or 10MB.

  • Real Estate Listings - For realtor listings, just go for the 5 MB or 10MB for 2 years. Even when a listing is no longer available, don't throw out that house! If a prospect keeps your email and comes back to it at a later date - you want that image to still be there. Because even though that property isn't available, they'll still contact you to see if it is. And there are plenty of other properties you can show them that are just as nice.
